Wallace Wattles taught that thinking and acting in a “Certain Way” was the way to create wealth and live prosperously. He showed that the first step to wealth creation was to form the right state of mind—in short, think positively.
Wattles takes his positive thinking a step further than just good thoughts, though. The key, as Wattles tells it, is to visualize your financial success. See yourself as wealthy, see yourself living exactly as you desire to be living, and then act in the way that will get you there—take measures to create your own success!
Create Your Own Destiny
Wattles teaches that when you live like you are wealthy, you create your own destiny by bringing success upon yourself. It’s something akin to money attracting money, but Wattles details very specifically why this happens and how the Monistic Theory of One can be applied to wealth creation.
The Science Of Getting Rich
You really need to read the book to learn how you can live like you are wealthy when you’re not yet so, but in simplistic terms, this is just more of the same positive thinking and visualization that is key to his overall theory, his Science of Getting Rich. Note, this is not about living above your means and getting yourself into huge mounds of unreasonable debt before you can pay for it, it’s about thinking of yourself as a successful being who is able to have what you want to have—a person who is on the path to that end goal of creating wealth, who is just on the cusp of realizing that success.
Wattles’ “Certain Way” is very similar (if not the same) as the teachings of the best self-empowerment leaders of the past and present. He gives us the first necessary element in wealth creation, and then goes on to show us the how, the why and the possibilities that are open to everyone who devotes him- or herself to wealth creation.
