A Time For Limits

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

In one of our posts last week I quoted that pioneering wealth-creation writer, Napoleon Hill. If you recall the quote referenced the only real limitation to wealth and success, that being our imagination. The limits we place on our own imagination and belief in ourselves are the only things that limit our ability to create wealth.

With that said, today I’d like to bring to light a different type of limitation, and one that can very effectively work in your favor. Everyone has a place in their lives and in their wealth creation plans for these types of limits.

Limit Outside Control

limit1The limits I am referring to are the outside controls, influences, and roadblocks that we allow to be placed in our paths. In other words, the amount of time, life, energy, and focus that we allow other people and entities to take from us, and thus away from our plans and goals to build wealth.

Too often, and I see this a lot in the types of people who create wealth (many of them being generous souls who want to help others—which is commendable, but can get out of hand), we let other factions control our lives. We let them control our time schedules, what we do, how we do it, and we let them control all the energy and time that we have reserved for ourselves, for creating wealth of our own. It does not take long for this to become an all-encompassing power that leaves us with virtually no time left to attend to building wealth and achieving the financial freedom and life freedom that we desire.

An Exercise In Irony

The truly ironic thing about this is that if we were better at taking the time and focusing on what is most important for our well-being, we could build into our lives fairly easily the freedom of time and money that would allow us to give more freely of ourselves, and be able to be of more assistance to those whom we choose to help along.

Most of the time limitations are not something we want to build into our plans to create wealth; but there does certainly come a time when this is warranted, and if you are to be truly successful you will need to build this essential skill. It doesn’t mean you need to grow hard-hearted and never help another, but it does mean you need to set you as a priority to achieve the most fulfilling, truest, most balanced life for you and for all of those who you will choose to help now and in the future.

A Single Limitation

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

Today, another post inspired by another quote from Napoleon Hill and Mindset Mastery.

“Man’s only limitation, within reason, lies in his development and use of his imagination.”
Napoleon Hill

Personal Limits

empoweredThis is exciting stuff, because it means that all those excuses that we’ve been hosting can be tossed to the wind. When you build the confidence and determination to be successful and create wealth, you will succeed. It takes only the first step and the first idea—and that is an idea that you have unlimited control over.

Once again, this quote is showing us that we are the masters of our own destiny. We do not need to wait for permission or assistance from anyone else—we just need to trust in our own minds and imaginations and put those minds to good use. Some shaping and guidance doesn’t hurt (within reason), but ultimately you have to understand that you do have what it takes right inside your head.

Within Limits

There really is very little that we can’t do within these limits. The problems come when we don’t believe in ourselves, and we place limitations upon our brains, ideas, and attitudes. The only limits that really exist are those that we choose to subscribe to.

The entire matter comes down to one thing—freedom. The freedom to let our minds think big and work towards big things. The freedom to trust in ourselves and not let the cynics hold us back. The freedom to prioritise ourselves above all other “obligations”. The freedom to understand that unless we do just that, we will never achieve the full, true life that we desire—that we need!

You do not need to submit yourself to limitation. You can dictate the terms and limits of your life. You need to dictate the terms and limits of your life to make it truly yours…and I know you have the imagination to do just that!

Why Start At The Bottom?

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

This is yet another post inspired by my Mindset Mastery series at my SeanRasmussen.com blog. The series is a journey through Napoleon Hill’s updated success and empowerment eBook, originally titled “Think and Grow Rich”. Not much of a surprise then, that it is so inspiring for wealth creation topics!

What inspired me today was the story of a woman who went to great lengths to land her son his first job after college. She created a complete portfolio of her son’s life and education, including anything applicable to the job. This was much more than a resume, and a great undertaking. The question Napoleon Hill posed after telling her story was this: why go to so much trouble?

Getting Ahead

race-startThe answer was simple—that one added effort, even though sizable, not only landed the young man the job, but also allowed him to get ahead and start at least ten years forward. In other words, where he ended up starting would have taken him ten years if he’d gone the way of starting at the bottom and working up to that position—if in fact he ever managed to maintain enough ambition to get that far. By putting in some added effort in the beginning, the man moved ahead to earlier success and at the same time set himself up for a habit of accomplishment, motivation, and success.

All Stories Have Morals

The moral of this story is this—you do not need to start at the bottom and make your life more difficult. By putting in some additional effort now, you can be a success sooner, enjoy wealth and financial freedom sooner, and develop successful habits rather than risk getting into an uninspired rut. This is not only true in terms of jobs and general life activities, but of wealth creation as well. You can get ahead in wealth creation and cut years of struggle from your journey to wealth if you are willing to put in some additional effort now; even that will not be as difficult as you think it may be.

A ‘Simple’ Reminder

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about this, so it’s about time for a reminder (unless you’re new here, and in that case welcome!). The topic? The simplicity of wealth creation.

That’s So Simple!

“That’s so simple!”

mindIt’s what I hear time and again when I talk to people about what it takes to create wealth. They want to know the key, and I tell them—creating wealth is a simple matter of changing your mindset to one of positivity. If you want to be rich, you have to change your attitude and develop the millionaire mindset. You need to capitalize the Law of Attraction and attract positivity and success and money to you.

Simple, right? It really is.

You, Me, Everyone

Creating wealth and achieving financial freedom really is simple. It’s not a matter of how well educated you are or what you were given or how and where you grew up; it’s a matter of setting your mind to the task, focusing on positive wealth and what money can do for you, and stopping your negative, destructive ways of thinking (even those you don’t recognize you have).

I do not make this stuff up, folks. Absolutely every wealth expert will say the same thing: mindset and attitude are the keys to wealth creation. From historical figures like Wallace Wattles and Napoleon Hill to today’s experts like [Name Withheld], John Demartini, Anthony Robbins, and many more…this is the one thing they all agree on. Therefore, if you can develop that mindset, you can be rich and prosperous!

Something else you should note that is worthy of a reminder is that it does not take anything special to be able to do this—just a brain, and you all have that. Everyone has the potential to be rich, you just have to start developing that key wealthy mindset in earnest. Good news, and a great future ahead for you!

Abundance Mentality: Do You Have It?

Monday, June 1st, 2009

The term “abundance mentality” is credited to author Stephen Covey, although it appears in many, many other places since it has been popularized in wealth and success circles. It is another way of describing the same type of mindset that success masters like Napoleon Hill and Wallace Wattles, [Name Withheld], and many other modern success communicators illustrated. The good news is, it’s not overly difficult to have, as long as you can keep focused on the fact that you want the abundance mentality.

Plenty To Go Around

abundance-mentalityHere is a good basic summary of the abundance mentality, courtesy of Wikipedia:

“…a person believes there are enough resources and success to share with others…It is commonly contrasted with the scarcity mindset, which is founded on the idea that, given a finite amount of resources, a person must hoard their belongings and protect them from others. Individuals with an abundance mentality are supposed to be able to celebrate the success of others rather than be threatened by it.”

If you think of this mindset in terms of creating wealth, it’s easy to see how developing an abundance mentality will be more beneficial than maintaining its opposite, the “Scarcity Mindset”. Apply it to the Law of Attraction and think about what you will be drawing to you—abundance, success, mutual respect and goodwill. Consider applying its opposite, and I fear to think how much struggle you’ll be inviting into your life!

Taking Sides

It’s not hard to figure out how people come to live life in the scarcity mindset, but it is a sad state of affairs. Think how much happier we would all be if we all believed in the abundance mindset, and all lived life with a positive and generous spirit. That’s the world I want to be living in—and so it’s the world I work hard to create!
