Inspiration Requires No Motivation

Inspiration requires not motivation.

I recently talked about this as part of my life story at my blog at SeanRasmussen.com. The topic was leaving my rat-race job and giving up a paid slavery position to pursue wealth and enjoy real financial freedom. What I found when I did that was that the new path to money and wealth that I’d chosen was much more motivating all by itself than anything else I’d done. Why? Because I was inspired.

Fighting Against The Tide

seaside-exerciseWhen you are not inspired by your work and your life you are constantly fighting against it. Everything you do is tiring, because everything you do requires loads more effort than it should—and usually all of that just to convince yourself to keep moving and doing. Just waking up in the morning is an effort, because you know that as soon as your feet hit the floor it’s time to start that treadmill that has become your life.

On the other when you are inspired by your choices, your goals, and your path, life is suddenly filled with energy. You need no convincing, because your life, progress, and success (even if that success is still imminent) is motivation all by itself. You do not require outside motivation or mind games to keep moving. Your inspiration is your motivation.

Live Free Or Die

My hope in discussing this today is to motivate you all to inspire yourself, and let that inspiration be your motivation. Think how much better your life would be if you were self-motivated just because you were doing something that you loved and enjoyed, or just because you were building wealth that would free your time, energy, and life. This is my wish for each and every one of you.

My wish is that you will find the intrinsic inspiration to build wealth and live freely. My wish is that you do not become one of the statistics, letting the rat race break you down until you are dead or broke. My wish is that you are inspired to make the best of life for you and yours, and enjoy every minute of it.

What Is Emotion?

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

We talk about emotion a lot here on this blog, as do many wealth creation experts. There’s good reason for it, too; emotion rules many of the decisions and outcomes of your life, including matters of money and finance. After all, as it’s been said, if wealth were just about the numbers we’d all be rich—but we’re not, so there must be more. At any rate, considering so much time is spent discussing emotion’s effects, it makes sense to talk a bit about what emotion is.

And Wikipedia Says…

Wikipedia explains emotion in this way (it also goes on to explain more about its history and theories):

emotion“An emotion is a mental and physiological state associated with a wide variety of feelings, thoughts, and behavior. Emotions are subjective experiences, or experienced from an individual point of view. Emotion is often associated with mood, temperament, personality, and disposition.”

So what we have is an individual, subjective reaction to life’s experiences. We all agree there is a bit more to it than that, and that there is some biological/physical component, but I think we can also agree that to a great extent emotion is controllable in most situations.

Here’s another interesting bit of trivia regarding the word’s root from Wikipedia:

“The English word ‘emotion’ is derived from the French word émouvoir. This is based on the Latin emovere, where e- (variant of ex-) means ‘out’ and movere means ‘move’.[1] The related term “motivation” is also derived from movere.”

Hmmm…..that’s food for thought. So we now have a subjective, individual response (sounds a lot like attitude) that we can control that is closely related to motivation. In other words, our emotions can be motivating, either negatively or positively. There’s a lot that this can imply, but I think this supports our discussions about gaining control of our emotions and choosing our own views of life. Yes, we are emotional creatures, but we can just as easily make that play in our favor for developing wealth and building a better life for ourselves.

Showing Up Is Half The Battle!

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

Motivation is key in wealth creation success. To achieve financial prosperity, you have to take a series of wealthy actions. It’s a process that progresses over time, and one that requires ongoing motivation to stay committed, continue acting, and continue to achieve all your wealth goals. That is why so many posts here are devoted to motivating you and helping you stay the course to financial prosperity (which is, in reality, life prosperity—wealth is your key to freedom and a fulfilling life!).

Life In The Real World

Real Life InspirationAll of this being said, in the real world you will have days when you are less motivated to take those wealthy actions; you may be feeling overwhelmed, or discouraged by a perceived lack of progress, or just plain tired. On those days, it helps if you can make just the small commitment to sit down and attend to what needs doing—to some small action that can get the ball started.

Most of the time showing up is half the battle. If you can get yourself that far, and break out of that rut you’ve been left in, then you will be motivated to keep moving and keep acting and keep on achieving.

Action Begets Action

Just as money is attracted to money, wealth attracted to wealth, and positivity attracted to positivity (yes, we’re talking the Secret Law of Attraction here), action attracts more action. Once you get started it is so much easier to keep going. It probably will not even feel like the chore you thought it would be, and you’ll probably be intrinsically motivated to continue on.

And so, for those times when inspiration and motivation is just a little harder to come by, commit to just showing up and doing something. That simple dedication and action will get you the start you need for the days when that motivation is just a little harder to come by. Soon enough, all that dedication will add up to be a very considerable force of wealth creation and achieved success.

30 Second Life Renewal

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

One of the hardest things about achieving your financial goals is staying motivated to reaching them. That’s kind of mind-boggling, because you might think that the financial reward at the end would be reward enough. Alas, human as we are, we often need a little extra help staying the course. And so, from time to time we offer up some ways here on this blog to keep you moving to be the highest-achieving you that you can be.

We All Need Motivation

First of all, before you start feeling down about a lack of motivation, know this: we all need help being motivated. Even those of us who want it the most have times when we are ready to give up. And we all have subconscious attitudes that come into play, many unbeknownst to us, and many in need of some serious attention (this is where a good dose of wealth creation education comes into play—in helping us set the mental stage for success). So there’s no use feeling down or inferior, there’s only usefulness and recognizing that need, and moving on.

Sometimes The Simplest Solutions Are The Best

Sometimes this really is true. It does not always need to be big or complex to be a solution. Sometimes the solutions are as easy as taking 30 seconds out of your day to regroup and refocus. The best part is, it takes nothing but you to do this—no big investments, no fancy equipment, not even time out of your busy day. One of the simplest solutions for keeping myself on track has come from a simple practice of getting up in the morning, thinking about my goals, and appreciating my life’s situation. This simple action literally takes about a half a minute, but it starts the ball rolling to more of the same—more action, more gratitude, more focus on my goals and personal success.

Finding motivation and success is not always difficult. You just need to find simple ways to stay in the seat of control. When you are the focus of your attention and action, there is only one way to go—to your future success!

The Path Leads, You Have To Travel

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

This post relates to several things we’ve talked about here in the recent weeks. It relates to our discussions on fear and failure, and it relates to the blame-game we play when we don’t achieve what we’ve set out to achieve. It also relates to preempting goal failure by going prepared with a course of wealth education that has what it takes to teach you to make money and maintain the wealth mindset. It is also very much in relation to the last post regarding curiosity or commitment and Jamie McIntyre‘s message.

Understanding Elemental Points

If we were to take all of these posts and boil them down to a few single points, one of those points would be this:

A wealth education is an essential path, but it can only take you so far. To reach the ultimate goal of wealth, you yourself have to do the traveling. The best of wealth education courses, materials, seminars…the best motivational speakers, the best of everything the world of wealth creation has to offer can only do so much for you. In reality, all they can do is present you with the tools and opportunity to build wealth and achieve success. Not to belittle the extreme importance of those tools and opportunities, but they are what they are….vehicles you have to drive.

The Best Information And Products Can Only Take You So Far

The rest is up to you. You have to be willing to walk that road to find the rewards along it. That’s important to know, too—wealth is not just a pot of gold at the end, it’s a collection of smaller successes and rewards along the way.

No one can make the journey or put the work into wealth creation on your behalf, and have you come out the winner. We can help, and that’s what we’re here to do, and what programs like the 21st Century Academy are here to do. But you have to commit and understand that effort is a requisite contribution. It’s all effort that you can certainly manage, but elemental to your success nonetheless.
