From A Tender Age
We’ve been talking for a very long time here about the attitudes and emotions that are attached to money and wealth—those that we all need to change so that we can stop denying wealth and embrace money and wealth as something positive and enjoyable. Before we do that, building wealth will always be an uphill battle, and one that is seldom won.
From Early On
The attitudes and emotions that we have about money are things that we learn and absorb from very early ages. Our adult opinion of money—both our conscious opinions and our subconscious opinions—is the culmination of our experiences with money up until this point. That experience is a combination of both direct dealings and physical experiences with money and the emotions and attitudes that we have witnessed and experienced along the way.
Obviously, with so many different variable factors at play, there is a lot that has gone into the formation of our opinions and attitudes about money and wealth. We really cannot expect to even ever uncover them all. We can, however, deal with the end result and right the wrongs that are impeding our wealth.
Precious Time
Whatever your current attitudes and emotions regarding money and wealth are, they took many years to form them. Therefore, much as we know this needs addressing and changing to build wealth successfully, we also need to know that the change will take some time and effort. And so, blaming yourself will do you no good. Instead, recognize that the attitudes and mindsets that you have formed have formed over time, and that reforming them will take some time. You can take comfort that it will be a much shorter journey than the one that got you here, and that this time you are aware, and so that journey will be much shorter, but you can also use that knowledge to forgive yourself and have some patience with yourself—something that will get you much farther than blame and frustration.
