Finding the Financial Planner That Is Right for You
An excellent financial planner can be a valuable asset. However, it is important to find the right financial planner who will give you the advice and information that you need in order to create the wealth you desire successfully. Hiring a financial planner is a great way to advance toward financial freedom and a more stable future. Still, knowing just where to begin looking for the right financial advisor can be a daunting task all on its own.
Check Qualifications
More often than not, investors tend to choose a financial planner that their friend, neighbor or relative recommends. However, before you go handing your financial information and data over to someone, it is important to make sure that they are qualified for the job.
Just about anyone can claim to be a financial planner, so it is critical that you closely examine and verify the credentials and qualifications of the financial planner whom you are considering for hire. A few of the qualifications that you should expect your financial planner to have include:
• Certified Public Accountant, or CPA – A financial professional with such qualifications is best suited to handle your tax issues. A CPA must follow several strict education and licensing requirements.
• Certified Financial Planner, or CFP – A professional with this certification has a Bachelor’s degree. He or she has also taken courses in relevant areas in addition to passing a major ten-hour exam.
• Personal Finance Specialist, or PFS – An individual with this type of certification is already a certified CPA who has completed several additional training courses, has a minimum of three thousand hours of experience in professional financial planning as well as pass a supplementary exam.
Finding the financial planner that is right for you is optimal action if you are ready to start planning for your retirement, or if you are serious about creating wealth now that will last you well past retirement age.
