The Value of Automation
Earning more money from your internet marketing ventures isn’t just about working harder to achieve more. It’s also about learning smarter ways of working and implementing as many time saving strategies as you can to do more in less time.
To this end, the power of automating as much as possible is highly beneficial in driving your internet ventures forward. Depending on the level of success you are experiencing with your efforts, you might find it hard to set aside some time to review your current methods – but it is absolutely essential that you do so, as it will repay you many times over in the long run.
The key to freeing up more of your time is to go through and analyse every single one of the methods, routines and tasks you perform on a regular basis as part of your internet business, so that you can ask yourself whether it’s possible to automate one or more of them.
One key area which you can reap benefits from almost immediately is email marketing. If you have more than a handful of customers then it’s worth subscribing to an auto-responder. This will enable you to set up automatic replies to specific messages, and save yourself time as well as repetition.
It’s worth remembering what automation means – basically that you can set something up to work for you in a certain circumstance, instead of having to do the work yourself to achieve the same result. This should be borne in mind in its broadest sense as well as simply letting a computer program do some of the hard work for you.
Let’s say for example that you sell goods through your website that need to be packaged up and sent out on a daily basis. Once you get to a certain level of sales, the physical act of gathering up all those parcels and staggering up to the mailbox to post them (or worse, standing in line for the privilege of handing them over to someone behind the counter) can get to be too much.
When you hit this level, you will probably find it worthwhile to pay to get the mail collected from you. The time and effort it will save you will more than make up for the price you’ll pay. This is a good example of the fact that the cost to you in money of enlisting the help of others isn’t always the most important factor.
Sitting down for a few hours to analyse your business in this way can indeed be highly beneficial, and it can lead to you running your internet business in a totally different and more productive way from now on. But it shouldn’t be something you do once and then never do again.
Make a point of marking down a date in your diary every month or two, so you can sit down and go through your checks once more. It could be that what works extremely well now might be outdated in a few weeks’ time, as you and your business grow to the next level.
If that is the case, then it’s time to look at fresh solutions to enable you to hit fresh new plateaus.
