Do You Really Need Money To Start A Business

The short answer to whether you really need money to start that new business is, of course, no.  Although, this is often the majority viewpoint in many financial and business circles, there are actually some alternative means to establish a business.  For those who have special skills, are creative enough to conceive of some product or service that is marketable, or have unique access to other resources that can be instrumental in the development of a simple business idea, opportunities abound.  So what do you need to start a business venture, if you don't need money to do it?

What this all means that rather than cash or other finance capital, anyone involved in the proposed business venture can contribute materials and services such as those mentioned above.  Contributions are often the key to establishing many types of businesses while initial startup capital may be a secondary consideration.  So what else can be considered contributions?  It might be helpful to break down at least three primary alternative sources or potential contributions that can be used by those who have agreed to partner in the creation of a new business, no matter what for it takes.

First, you have what are called intangible rights or assets, which may include right available on a contracted basis or various types of intellectual property.  This could mean simple ideas, inventions, marketing concepts, business strategies, authored books, specific knowledge or expertise, etc.  In the context of creating a business, you would be able to contribute any of these types of assets in the place of cash funds, so that you do not actually need money to get the proverbial ball rolling on your venture.

It is the same with the use of services and the contribution of other types of resources to the business venture so that you do not need money to start working and constructing the business from the ground up.  Services actually performed by those involved in business development will often include a larger percentage of the actual work done to make that business happen.  By including facilities, equipment and willing partners or personnel who wish to help the business get off the ground, it should be clear that money might be only one avenue for building a business among many.  Despite the common sense of the idea, you do not need money to start your own business.
